Blood after UrinationHi, I'm new to this forum. I'm a 20-year old male. For a while now, I've been having painful urination (pain around the urethral area, but I can handle it). Then lately, I saw some blood after I forcefully urinated (did a Valsalva really hard). It wasn't a lot, maybe a couple of drops or so. I'm just scared.
The bleeding only happens after I urinate forcefully. What do you guys think? Thank you.
Re: Blood after UrinationI do have to urinate frequently, but it's because I retain the urine (because of the pain the urine causes as it passes through my urethra). The bleeding happens after I urinate after doing a really hard Valsalva maneuver (straining). As far as I know, I don't have any blood clots in my urine. I'm taking antibiotics right now, but I don't think it's working..well it doesn't help with the pain, at least.
Re: Blood after UrinationHi,
Yes this is a common problem when people hold it to avoid the pain after urinating. You have to be careful not to cause some sort of inflammation, or get a URI from accumulating bacteria in the bladder. One useful site for you might be http://www.redurine.com which talks about various hematuria-related conditions and what to do about them. Good luck in any case - wish you well.
