Have you seen a hematologist? I had my first clot in 1993....in both my legs. At that time they just said it was due to birth control pills. They finally figured out in 1998...(the birth of my second child) ...that I had (have) Factor V Leiden. Well after 16 years of being clot free...I just had my first PE a couple weeks ago. Talk about scary! I will probably be on coumadin life long. For sure 6 months. I just wonder how long it takes for the clot in my lung to go away. Still short of breath at times....and chest pain. (very frustrating)
