Something that might help with the painI am 66 years old and have been dealing with DDD since my mid 30’s. I still have daily constant pain issues although the early morning hours are almost pain free now and sleeping is better. I read a book on going Gluten Free, basically a no Wheat diet. I live alone and am more of a chemist than a cook but it is easy to make the switch. Removing gluten from your diet will help with the ‘deep body’ inflammation that helps to cause the pain we feel. A good book from the library or Amazon or your book store will describe the cause and effect of too much wheat in our diets. The second thing I changed was removing Beef from my diet for the same reason. Removing Beef from your diet also helps with arthritic pain and inflammation. Ten days after making these two changes to my diet my pain levels dropped.
I then started acupuncture again. My pain levels are running at 2 to 3 on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst level. At the end of July it will have been 7 months since making these changes. In that time my back has gone out twice and the pain was manageable. I have also lost weight which helps. I also exercise the way they taught me in Physical Therapy every day. I do some of the stretches twice a day or when I need to. I walk 2 miles everyday, the only exception is when my back is out or the weather is too bad for man or beast. The idea is to keep moving or as my doctor says “do more”. The book I read is: The Gluten Connection by Shari Lieberman PhD. With Linda Segall
Re: Something that might help with the painI'm curious, I was told I have multiple tears in the lumbar ligaments, as well as DDD. I have weakness in both thighs, and my DR's have NO clue. Sais it is not related to the bad back. Looking at food adjustments. ETC.
