chest painI had severe chest pain and had to have a stent placed in my artery. That went well and the Cardiologist told me that I could return to work in a few days. He left the room and the Intervention guy started to close my main artery in my leg....everything went down hill from there. He punctured my artery and I developed a hematoma and they could not get the bleeding to stop. Eventually they got it to stop after I had passed out several times with lack of blood. From there I had to have a blood transfusion, developed another hematoma and then an Aneurysm which had to be injected. I was bruised from my waist to my knees and was in severe pain.....has anyone else had this problem? I would love to know......
Re: chest painSuch procedures are not without risks. They do not always go smoothly. I went in for spinal surgery to relieve pressure on a nerve root in my neck. I went into surgery in great pain and came out with 2 paralyzed arms and more pain. It was quite charming. It does sound as though they put your stent where it was needed so at least they met your primary goal. You should recuperate from the other complications.
Re: chest painThank you for the reply Davy9 but all is still not good and I do understand that some times procedures go wrong. When I was released from the hospital I was in pain and knew I did not feel right, but they let me out anyway. It was 2 days later that I had to go back to the ER. When I got there they did an ultrasound at the top of my leg were they had entered to put my stent in place the Radioligist was shocked at the mess I was in. He told me that they had punctured my artery. I feel that there was some sort of neglect on the closing of that vein. Besides that, I come from a long family history of heart problems and High blood pressure, which is not the fault of anyone, my concern was the unnessesary pain I endured after that simple surgery. My father died at 40, my brother died at 45 and I am a 46 year old female now going in for triple bypass. The stent was placed last Sept. (2007) so I am still trying to be positive.
