Try drugs before you consent to surgery. My urologist told me there is an 86 percent success rate with the greenlight prostatectomy procedure, and I told my doctor I would probably be in the 14 percent of patients who have all the nasty side effects. Has anyone at this forum had this surgery, and what were the results? I know there are several drugs out there to help with BPH so I'm going to keep trying until I find a drug that works. My prostate is not that enlarged, so there is something else blocking my urine flow. For me, it hasn't gone to the stage where its difficult to urinate, so I'm going to keep trying the drugs until I run out of options.
Re: Try drugs before you consent to surgery.I would agree with you. Exhaust the choice of drugs before you have a surgery, which may or may not have some side effects. When the drugs no longer work, then consider it. You aren't there yet. You will know when you are. When the BPH is so bad that you are backing up and causing bladder infections, you really then have no choice. That's what I did and I'm fine.
