sacral nerve stimulator for urinary retention

Post a new topicby disneylover on Thu Aug 28, 2008 5:40 pm

I am a 31 year old female that has urinary retention. My doctor is wanting to do the sacral nerve implant. I have gone through several tests. My husband is hesitant about this prodcedure. I have had many uti etc....I have been going through this for a year. I do self cath almost always to avoid more infections. He thought i might have fowler syndrome but i do not have polycystic ovaries, or pos. One test showed the muscle strengh of my sphincter muscle was 175, he told me average woman are axp 50 or so. I am really tired of going through self cathing etc.. but at the same time if there is some other option then i would like to research it as well

Hi,

I hope if you do this it is a positive experiance, I will keep my fingers crossed.

I tried sacral nerve stimulation 3 times and pudendal wire neuro-stimulator, for my urine retention.
Urine retention is very, very hard to treat.
only 40-60% get positive results who have urine retention with sacral nerve stimulation. Not to many Uro will tell you that. I have been to Cleveland clinic, beaumont urology, and St, Paul Minn.

But, you have nothing to loose by trying it and if it does work you will have a better life.

If you have any more questions let me know, i would love to help.
